He invented a weird world where it was obvious that the planet was carried on the back of a giant turtle and the sun went round the planet.

Oh yeah, and Magic works (when the Wizards aren't out to lunch).

Some people think these books are meant to be Funny. Some people think they are meant to be Metaphors. Either statement could be right. Either could be wrong, but the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

The series is up to almost forty books and I own most of them bar Moving Pictures because I don't like it (sorry!).

You will note that the majority of the American covers may be a bit more tasteful than their British equivalents so you have a choice as which cover you buy.

One of the ways that Terry has managed to keep the series so fresh is in the way that many of the books are broken down into various sub series within the overall background of the Discworld itself. These sub series are usually thought of as being:
