Terry Pratchett

(Born 1948, died ??)

Terry was first employed as a journalist before becoming the press officer for the CEGB's nuclear power stations. He started writing fiction whilst employed by the CEGB before taking up fiction full time.

After a number of trips to Borneo to study urang-utangs in (what's left of) their native habitat, Pratchett has become involved in charities dedicated to these great apes.

His knighthood was received in honour of this conservation work as much as for his success as an author.

(CEGB - the Central Electricity Generating Board, which used to be responsible for the generation of Britains' electricity supply).
