Time Zero

Justin Richards

2003

With Fitz having decided that he wants to have an adventure in his own right and that a trip to Siberia was what the doctor ordered (sic) back in 1894, and Anji leaving to go back to work, the Doctor was left to go on his travels alone.

For most of the first part of the book, the focus is on Anji. Initially slipping back into her role as a Futures Trader, Anji finds the work almost automatic, instincts honed sharp in the TARDIS are equally useful on the Markets. But her work was no longer the all-consuming passion it had been. Now, her main focus lay on the late night Internet searches looking for traces of Fitz and that ill-fated Siberian expedition.

Over in current day Siberia, we are introduced to an international research institute based in its own ruined castle allegedly trying to create a controlled black hole. The spetznatz team is only in the area to gain cold weather experience, of course. And no-one's really sure who their mysterious foreign sponsor is…

But things take a decidedly strange turn as Anji is invited on an expedition by some really fit looking auditors.

The Doctor had been haunting auctions throughout the nation looking for his own relics of the 1894 expedition.

Will the three travellers be reunited and will the timeline survive the impossibilities that were being imposed upon it?
