Bullet Time

David McIntee

2001

Sarah Jane was in Bangkok to take some pictures of the old Khmer ruins, her life sort of bouncing along on a pleasant level when weird things started happening to her once more. All too soon, she found herself on board a helicopter flight with a fellow reporter that had all the hallmarks of being a one-way trip. In a display that not even James Bond could emulate, both Sarah Jane and Tom were able to parachute safely to the ground.

Sarah Jane then went on to Hong Kong to cover the big story of the year; the upcoming ceremonies to mark the handover of the colony to Mainland China. Once there, she finds that some one is still taking an interest in her, but she's not quite sure whom. It could be the Triad gang members that had tossed her room, but then there were the members of that UNIT taskforce based somewhere in the city too. There were factions within each force, too, as the Triad leadership suffered a crisis of confidence in the mysterious Pendragon that had risen so fast up the ranks and UNIT was riven by conflict between those who were in the Cortez Project and those who weren't.

And never forget the Americans. Sarah Jane certainly remembered Tom when he turned up once more but his cover as a reporter is increasingly threadbare. There are even some aliens hiding out in the jungle, but they can't be of too much concern to the warring human factions.

Can they?

When Sarah Jane finds out who Pendragon is, she finds fond memories betrayed by this strange Doctor separated from her by many years.

Who is he working for, and is it the safety of Earth that concerns him most?
