John Wyndham

(Born 1903, died 1969)

That part of his name by which John Wyndham Parkes Lucas Beynon Harris is most usually known.

He used virtually every combination of the above name in his career, but John Wyndham became the most commonly used, particularly after WW2 when he began republishing pre-war stories under this preferred pseudonym. In addition, JW developed the form of 'cosy catastrophe' where civilisation is brought to a temporary halt. Apart from The Day of the Triffids John Wyndham wrote The Kraken Awakes and The Chrysalids, though this latter is not particularly cosy!
