Sean was born in Sale, Victoria, Australia, thereby making him part of a growing pack of Australian science fiction authors that started making itself felt during the 1990s. His daughter seems fit to continue this tradition on into the next generation.
Before becoming a writer, Sean obtained a degree in Physics and History (Melbourne, 1974), a postgraduate degree in Library and Information Science and a PhD in Mediaeval Literature. During the 1970s he was a professional musician.
Sean has written in both the science fiction and fantasy genres.
